Deep South to Midwest
Hello Everyone,
Well, it has been a active 3 1/2 weeks since our last blog. In short, we thank God for your prayers, for safety, provisions, friends, relatives and God's creation.
We have transitioned from South Carolina:
- To North Carolina to see lifelong friends, Larry and Libby Wolosiewicz,
- To Southern Virginia at an Army Corp of Engineers RV park on Lake Philpott.
- To the Shenedoah Valley in Virginia to see our daughters family for a 4 days,
- To Chillicothe, Ohio; a place of history of Ohio's beginnings and Linda's cousin who is direct descendent of First Pioneers in the area. Her relative was an Indian Guide advisor to George Washington. Note on this day of travel, we were protected from terrible driving and weather conditions in southern West Virgina. Thanks for your prayers!
- To Mason, Ohio to meet John's brother and his wife. We had the opportunity to visit the Ark Encoutner in northern Kentucky.
- We also played 8 games of "Jokers and Marbles". The ladies won 6 games to 2,😅😖
- To the Erie Orchard and Cider Mill in southern Michigan for a free overnight, wonderful cider slushees, fresh donuts and the chance to give out 4 bibles;
- To more central Michigan to meet sibligs and others of Linda's family. It is so nice when there is such sweet fellowship despite the years and the distance!
- While staying in Durand, MI we spotted a biker bar with about 10 Harley's out front. Linda, being nudged by the Holy Spirit, got out of the truck and marched across the street with 4 Gideon New Testaments and said: "Hey I've got some Bibles, anyone want one?" Two on the sidewalk took one and also 2 in the nearby laundromat also took one. Linda proceeded to share the plan of salvation.
For the numbers we have been out for 64 and by God's grace given out 48 bibles so far. Lots of stories.
We also met long time friends from Redeemer Baptist Church (where we grew up), Linda's best friend for 50 years, Suzie Hemphill and her hubby, Jerry.
Right now it is a gorgeous Michgan early September day with sun, moderate temps and low humidity. Tomorrow we start our trek with Linda's brother Gary and his friend, Nancy to see Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Think fall color, Mackinaw Island, Tahquamenon Falls, Lake Superior's Pictured Rocks National Seashore and the Porcupine Mountains. We will send some cool pictures of this in three weeks or so.
God Bless you all and please keep praying for us as we pray for you, our church, our home city, our country and the world in general.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us. What a delightful time you're having with family & friends as you revel in God's magnificent creation.

ReplyDeleteJohn, we had a wonderful time visiting with you and Linda during your stay in Durand this past week. The restaurant you chose was perfect, and your campsite with the bonfire and fellowship was enjoyable. We will be praying for your safety and ministry as you travel around the country meeting people and distribute Gideon Bibles.
