Northeast Florida Pleasant Surprises

Image
Friends  This has been a whirlwind 2 weeks of Northeast Florida pleasant surprises featuring history, places and people. We met up with Marc and Pam Warwashana in The Villages.  Pam was a neighbor and classmate dating back to elementary school.  Lots of good catching up with Pam and "shop talk" with Marc who was a skilled tradesman in automotive engine plants in Detroit.  Below: Met cousins in DeLand that we have not seen for over 50 years.  We were met with instant hugs and an assurance that family bonds remain strong even after so many years! Below: The Gideon's International Conference in Orlando:  What a priviledge for us to attend the this event!  The dinner featured Gideons and Auxilary from 40 countries for the purpose of encouraging hundreds of pastors in attendance.  The Gideons distribute scores of millions of New Testament scriptures worldwide annually.  We are members of this movement and are distributing testaments in our travels to neighbors, truckers, basic

God's Blessings and Learning Lessons

A Time For Rest

Dear Friends, After 3 months of wall-to-wall activity we are done with sorting, donating, storing, and selling our stuff and moving into our new home on wheels.   It is now a time for a rest. We spent a few days with my brother, Gary and his friend, Nancy at her home in Mary Esther, FL on the coast west of Pensicola.   It was relaxing and refreshing.  We did the same a few days later at John's brother, Michael and wife Marna in their high rise condo in Miramar, FL about 40 miles west of Panama City on the emerald coast.  We enjoyed beach time, mini golf, pool, jacuzzi, table games, cards and just enjoying our time to relax.  Taking time to breathe and spend time in God's Word and prayer is a much needed time of R and R.   The dissapation of stress has been just the right medicine! We are in two Facebook Groups of Christian Full-Tiime RVers and enjoying the advice and ideas. So far our experience felt like a vacation with friends and family but next week Wednesday we embark on

Texas Painted Churches

Image
First of all, thank y'all for the numerous expressions of love and prayers on our behalf as we initiated our travels.   As  promised here is a rundown of selected photos of five churches in and around Schulenburg, TX. that we visited with our dear friends Dave and Donna Sommers last week. The following churches were established by German, Czech and Swiss Christian immigrants to Texas. Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina, TX.  This was founded in 1877 by the first Czech settlement in Texas. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church founded in 1890 in Ammonsville, TX   United Evangelical Lutheran Church and Cemetery Freyburg United Methodist Church - 1879 St. Mary Roman Catholic Church - 1860 I asked Linda what she felt as she visited these churches.  She thought and said "reverence and awe".  It is not that any of these hand carved wooden painted statues are to worshipped but rather that one is drawn to experience great awe for the God who bestowed upon Hi
